Story
In December 2018 I was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia. After 6 months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy I had a had a stem cell transplant in May 2019 which gave me the best chance of Survival. I was lucky enough to have my brother as a donor, but not everyone is as fortunate as I was and more often than not need help finding a donor either in the UK or worldwide. DKMS is one of the leading International non-profit organisations which raises awareness, educates and signs up potential donors so that people in need of a transplant have a better chance at finding a match.
To celebrate what will be a year since having my transplant, I will be running the Hackney Half marathon and raising money for DKMS.
It costs £40 for DKMS to register a potential donor and in order to fund this, they rely completely on donations. Please help me to raise money for this great charity.
Every 20 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with a blood cancer leaving around 2000 people a year looking for a potential life saving stem cell donor. Leukaemia still claims the lives of more children in the UK than any other disease.
