In the In the early hours of 6 February 2023, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Türkiye (Turkey) and Syria. This was followed by another earthquake soon afterwards and there have been over 200 aftershocks since. Thousands have died and the number keeps rising while others remain trapped under rubble. Many are now homeless, forced to sleep in their cars or outside in the bitter winter cold.
Our thoughts are with our Turkish and Syrian colleagues, so we'd like to show our support in raising urgently needed funds for these regions.
Oxfam teams in Turkey and Syria are working with partners to urgently assess the fastest, most effective response to help affected people in the aftermath of Monday’s devastating earthquake – the biggest in Turkey since 1938.
