Story
Back in June 2011 my Dad called to say he had been diagnosed with ALS/Motor Neurone Disease. I wasn't sure what it was and he basically said he was going to die....27th April 2012 was that day, just 55 years of age.
When he started to lose his voice, he had a lightwriter to help him talk. When he typed my daughter's name, she thought it was the Cookie Monster talking. We all laughed.
To see a grown man deteriorate at a rapid speed like he did, was heartbreaking to see. Especially as he was always out and about helping people out with all sorts.
It wasn't until after he died that I decided to run the Great South Run as a 1 off to raise some funds and awareness off this cruel disease. I decided on fancy dress to gain more awareness and remembered the Cookie Monster story.
Now I won't stop raising awareness until there's a cure. No finish line until there is 1.
Thank you very much for your support
