Story
Born in Belfast, 28th March 1951.
Died in Leeds, 22nd April 2021.
Dad loved life and did not like to waste a second of it. He was a wonderful raconteur and when not working or spending time with loved ones, he spent a great deal of his time indulging in the many hobbies about which he was passionate. These included, in no particular order: hunting, fishing and shooting; riding or fixing motorbikes; driving or fixing cars; photography; eating and drinking either tea, whiskey or red wine (mainly tea); DIY and engineering or construction projects (often for and with other people). He loved being outdoors and this encouraged yet another passion, in gardening, when he retired.
Dad died a few weeks after his 70th birthday, having suffered a brain haemorrhage 4 months previously. This was caused by an arteriovenous malformation (AVM), an abnormal connection between an artery and a vein in his brain.
As AVMs are rare, further research is required and the work of charities like the Butterfly AVM Charity to help fund this research is essential. Those of us close to dad would be most grateful if you would like to make a charitable donation in lieu of flowers. Any words of tribute or stories you can leave would also help to keep him alive in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him.
