Story
We first became aware of the Queen’s Nursing Institute when Ben had his lumpy bump. It was the worst time of our lives, we were dealing with so many unknowns; How long would his treatment last? Will he have to have his leg amputated? How will we afford the extra equipment he needs? Who’ll look after Toby when we need to be with Ben? How will we afford all the extra travelling/ overnight stays? Then suddenly out of the blue Jane got a phone call and the offer of financial support (another Community Nurse had referred us). The money that the QNI gave us went towards Ben’s specialist car seat and our travel expenses. It meant so much to us, at time where we were looking for hope they were our light in the darkness and relieved some of the pressure we were facing.
They supported us financially again with help funding Jane’s final module to get her degree in nursing practice. They are the reason she could carry on training without it putting financial pressure on our family
Then last year Jane received the honour of earning the title of Queen’s Nurse. The QNI have been a constant support to so many Nurses throughout this recent pandemic, financially, emotionally and educationally.
The QNI are now under financial pressure and it is our turn to support them. We are planning a Family Summer of Sport where we will all have challenges that we’ll find difficult
As a family we are going hiking in Dartmoor.
Ben (5) is planning on doing a triathlon, run, cycle and sea swim
Toby (9) is going to do a weekly challenge voted on by you!
Jane is going to have a WED (Workout Everyday) August.
Matt is going to walk the 1066 way at night.
