Story
Lockdown is hard. We miss being with our friends, wherever we want. We miss mixed year group baking and movie nights and sport. We miss seeing our family, staying over at friends’ houses and Bath Road! We miss Sundays in town: milkshakes, shopping and eating out. We miss friends who are learning online or self-isolating, and we miss being together as a whole College community and socials. We’re doing our best, and keeping busy, but there’s no escaping it: lockdown is hard.
There are 20 days of lockdown left, and it would be easy to feel gloomy.
So we’ve set ourselves a challenge, and we’re calling it ‘Open Up Lockdown’.
Every day the whole College Lawn community will do ONE thing from
our ‘Open Up Lockdown’ list. We’ll connect through communal action, and we’ll share pictures of our efforts as a community. We’ll do silly things, laugh, try things we’re terrible at and maybe pick up some new skills or habits along the way. The list is not tricky to accomplish, but the challenge will be that we all take part, every day, no exceptions.
It’s going to connect us as a community, give us some challenges,
keep us positive and make the twenty days fly.
We’re asking you to help us by sponsoring the girls, and
asking family to as well. 25p, 50p or a £1 a day, for 5, 10, 15 or 20 days.
All our sponsorship money will go to Cheltenham OpenDoor, our
house charity, which supports vulnerable, disadvantaged and
lonely people, working to relieve poverty, hardship and social or emotional distress. Never have small charities like this needed our support more.
If we can raise £600, we will have made enough money to fund the work of OpenDoor for one week.
So we’re completing our ‘Open Up Lockdown’ for OpenDoor. Turning the negatives into positives, and building our community and the community of Cheltenham as we do.
