Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In July 2011 my younger brother, Darren Wilcox, was diagnosed with Leukemia.  Darren was one of the fittest people I have ever known and this came as a complete shock.  After a long battle and receiving a stem cell transplant Darren passed away on 1st February 2013, aged 21.  The courage that Darren showed every day throughout his illness was testament to what a terrific person he was.

Darren was the best brother, son and friend that anyone could wish for and he is still in our thoughts every day and words cannot explain how much he is missed.  Although his life was taken far too soon by this awful illness Darren achieved so much in his life, Playing for his beloved Kilmarnock Football club at under 19 level and also representing his local team, St.Johnstone.

For the last two years a group of my friends and Darren's friends have got together and ran the Edinburgh 10k in memory of Darren and I now feel it is time for a proper challenge and to give something back.... That is why on 24th April 2016, along with my good friend, Andrew Gellatly, I will be running the London Marathon in Memory of my brother, and best friend, Darren Wilcox.

Andrew and I will both be raising money for The Anthony Nolan Fund and I would appreciate if as many people as possible could dig deep and Sponsor me whatever they can towards this great charity...every penny will make a difference.  The Anthony Nolan Fund found a compatible Stem Cell Donor for Darren in his hour of need.  This donor, who was from the other side of the world, had no connection to Darren at all however was willing to make a huge personal sacrifice to help a total stranger and this would not have been possible without the work carried out by The Anthony Nolan Fund.

I'm sure you will all agree that this is an incredible charity and any donations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Colin Wilcox.
