Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was a CMS mission partner in DR Congo 1984 - 1992, and have continued to support CMS ever since. I am now the vicar of St Barnabas Homerton (London) where we support Ben and Katy Ray who run the Neema Project in Tanzania.
St Barnabas' perimeter railings (725 in total) are in dreadful condition. As I started to scrape and paint the first railings, I got the inspiration to double the harvest - paint at least 222 rust-free shiny black railings and at the same time raise money for CMS to celebrate their 222 years of creative, gospel-centred mission. It would be fantastic if you would like to sponsor me!

Update 18th August: since I launched this 222 campaign, I have scraped and painted 120 railings. 102 still to go! Oyedo has painted some railings as well. We are, of course, aiming to have painted all 725 railings, maybe by October?! Having some lovely conversations with passers-by, some known to me and some total strangers. Lots of 'Doing a good job!' and 'Looking nice!' and 'A long way to go!'
Update 2nd October: IT IS FINISHED! The last 25 railings were painted on 18 September. All 725 railings. I can't quite believe we've done it. It was a daunting task, but just as a journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step, so does the scraping and painting of 725 railings begin with the first scrape - and we carried on from there. I am grateful to Oyedo and Jade who helped with some of the sections. And I am so grateful to all who have sponsored me and encouraged me. It has made 2021 a very memorable year for me. I am amazed and humbled. Thank you!
