Mary’s Meals is a global movement that sets up school feeding programmes in communities where poverty and hunger prevent children from gaining an education. The charity now feeds more than 2.6 million children every school day and it costs just £19.15/€22.00 to feed a child for a year.

Story

I am taking a sabbatical from work and am undertaking the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, walking the whole way from St Jean de Pied in the Pyrenees to Finisterre on the Atlantic coast, a journey of over 550 miles.

I would like to use this challenge to raise money for a small charity that is doing great work across the world. Mary's Meals was founded by a Scottish fish farmer and it now provides meals for over 800,000 children who would not otherwise be fed. What makes this organisation so appealing is that the children receive their daily meal at their school. This draws hungry children into a classroom where they can get an education that can set them free from poverty.

If I can raise money to feed hungry children who will also get educated through the Mary's Meals school feeding project, that will keep me going through the miles! I hope you will support me in raising money for this most worthwhile charity.
