Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Our dad passed suddenly and unexpectedly 30th July 2023.
Having overcome prostate cancer earlier in the year, he died peacefully in his favourite arm chair watching the cricket .
We are devastated .
Our dad did not want a funeral and we will respect his wishes . However, we appreciate he touched the lives of many and people may wish to pay their respects.
We would be grateful if you would consider donating to this charity instead of sending flowers.
We chose this charity as dad loved working with young people, especially introducing them to the freedom and fun of the great outdoors .
Coming from a disadvantaged background himself , he loved camping as a young boy and he was involved in Scouting and Mountain Rescue as a young man. During his teaching years he enjoyed taking young people on camps and canal boat trips. In his retirement he volunteered at the local primary school listening to the children read and helping out in the Forest school and he was a regular Father Christmas at the local Special school.
We think knowing he was helping to provide these experiences to children and young people would make him happy .
