Story
Thirteen years ago, on January 2, 2010, the country of Haiti was wrecked by a devastating earthquake, taking the lives of approximately 250,000 of its people. Still in the process of recovery, Haiti has continued to face a series of drastic issues for years on end. More recently, on July 7, 2021, Haiti’s late president, Jovenel Moïse, was assassinated in his home, only to be followed by another disastrous earthquake about a month later on August 14, 2021. Haiti: the first Latin-American country as well as the first black republic to gain its independence, a beautiful country filled with strong, beautiful people, and a nation that’s been in need of support for years.
Hello ! My name is Ginou Tchouassi, and I’m a senior at New Providence High School. As the president of my school’s Diversity Club, senior leader of its Community Service Club and currently, the only Haitian American student in the school, I feel obligated to help spread awareness about the state of my country. My focus is to help raise money that will go to the installment of wells all around Haiti. Through Adopt-a-Well, an individual or group sponsors a specific community-managed well in rural Haiti, with the goal to raise $25,000 to fully fund that community’s program to gain sustainable access to clean water and sanitation. Any and all donations will go to Adopt-a-Well and potentially any other organizations providing relief to Haiti. Your support is greatly appreciated, thank you :)
