Story
Clare shared her passion for reading with everyone she met and was an enthusiastic supporter of public libraries in all the places she called home. She also spent time volunteering with adult literacy programmes in the US and was an adventurous and inspiring sharer of stories. The National Literacy Trust, in partnership with Better World Books (about whom Clare was also passionate) supports all sections of society to improve literacy at the point of need. During many years geographically apart, Clare and I shared so much through reading and she has passed on that love to both Angus and Violet. If you would like to support a cause in memory of Clare, we're setting up this Justgiving team page to provide the opportunity for anyone who may wish to make a donation.
On Monday 16-March Clare, my best friend, my lover, my partner, my wife, my future tense died. She died in the ICU after suffering from septic shock, we don’t know what caused it.
Violet, Angus and I are left to pick up the pieces of our lives. We’re at the start of a long journey learning how to make grief part of our lives, who we will be in the future and how to let Clare shine out in the world through us. At the moment we’re just taking it a day at a time coping with the frequent bouts of debilitating sadness.
Many people have asked if they can do something in memory of Clare. We’re set up this Justgiving team page to provide the opportunity for anyone to make a donation to causes Clare really cared deeply about.
