Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In April 2008 I (Claire) was diagnosed with breast cancer, this was a huge shock to everyone, especially that I was only 31 and just a few weeks prior we had just found out we were expecting a baby in November and we had a very lively 3 year old son, Joseph. I had to have a lumpectomy and then told that I was going to have to have a mastectomy. I recovered well from the surgery and the chemo began and the pregnancy was going well. We worked out that my last chemo would be on 12 September 2008. When I was 27 weeks pregnant I was admitted to hospital with pregnancy complications and was told I would have to stay in hospital until the baby was due, I went for my treatment as normal. On the 12 September we were so excited as it was going to be my last chemo day and I was now 31 weeks pregnant, which meant we could now focus on the baby, except the baby decided she was going to make an early appearance, so I missed my chemo, we had a healthy baby girl, Morgan, she had to go on special care for a couple of weeks, I had my final treatment a week after Morgan was born and the following week we brought Morgan home, we felt our family was complete. I then had to have radiotherapy, this was hard going up the hospital everyday with a new born and taking Joseph to nursery first, but we got through it. Last year I had breast reconstruction and this is when I really felt I could move on. It has been two years now and feeling great, we are walking 20 miles and everyone that knows us, knows how unfit we really are!!
