Story
Mum was an enthusiastic fundraiser for Henshaws, the charity run by her son-in-law, Nick. She knitted baby clothes and made rag rugs to sell to raise funds and also collected used stamps. It was a charity close to her heart and she always loved attending the annual Henshaws Christmas Carol Concert at Manchester Cathedral.
Many of the people Henshaws support already felt isolated and it is so important we connect with them right now. The team in Manchester is introducing a new, outbound telephone service to support the sight loss community, many of whom live alone and rely on delivery services for basic items. In Yorkshire, many of the service users have profound disabilities and require clinical support and Henshaws are taking extraordinary measures to ensure they have frontline staff available, and a second line for when core teams need to self-isolate. Service users with learning difficulties find change difficult at the best of times, and the current set of circumstances is especially hard for them, and they need extra support right now. All, of the above is challenging and demanding and will cost more, but it is a team effort and Henshaws will ensure everyone gets the help they need. Thank you.
