Story
Last year I was introduced to Craig Mathieson, Founder of The Polar Academy. Inspired by Craig’s passion for developing the next generation of leaders through exploration, on April 15th, Craig and I, together with Mark Wood and Richard Smith will start a 14-day journey called Arctic Minds, which will take us through the Northwest Passage and into the High Arctic. Facing wind chill of down to -50 degrees, we will be raising both the profile of The Polar Academy and much needed funds.
The Polar Academy work with the ‘invisible’ children, the victims of bullying, abuse or children crushed by a lack of self-esteem and confidence. It helps build them into leaders and role models, to truly inspire thousands of other young people, so that they too can reach their full potential.
Each year, Craig and The Polar Academy team take a group of 'invisible' teenagers to Greenland at an approximate cost of £20,000 per child. In turn, they will pass their experience onto another 3,000 young people.
