Berwick Cancer Cars is one of those charities you hope you never need to use, but cancer does not discriminate. 

Sadly this year, my younger sister Katie was diagnosed with womb cancer aged just 30.

Cancer is heartbreaking at any age, but for a young woman faced with losing her ability to bear a child, to go through major surgery and gruelling treatment, and on top of that, early menopause, this has had a profound affect on her physical and mental health. And to top it off, the distance to the nearest hospital is 60 miles- each way. Getting specialist treatment means going even further and into Newcastle. 

When you don't drive and live in an area with poor public transport, attending lots of appointments so far away to fight cancer, can seem too big a challenge to face.

Without Berwick Cancer Cars my sister would have not have been to get to her many hospital appointments with such ease and without stress. They have been incredible taking her door to door, early morning or late at night, and continue to do so as she continues with her treatment. They are a truly amazing service and my sisters fight would have been much more difficult for all of us without them.

So to say thank you, I'm putting myself forward for a challenge and hope to raise as much money as I can for them. Call me crazy, but I'm going to dip into the North Sea on Boxing day... and I hate the cold!
