Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As one of many Family Support Workers in the world, working for a charity is not only an honour but a pleasure. The Rainbow Trust Charity specifically supports families of who have children with terminally ill and life debilitating conditions.

Being an adult with an illness is hard enough but children who are given a premature life prognosis need a specialist type of support, for them, for their parents, their families and for the teams working alongside them. No one is immune to the effects of a Childs’ premature life departure.

Therefore I have decided to do a tandem skydive in July (2015) jumping at 10.000 feet and travelling around 120 mph to raise awareness about children and their families with life threatening/terminal illnesses

These Children and their families really do need our help and support and I really appreciate all of your support!!

Please read on for further information about Rainbow Trust's Charity Vision and a brief description of the work we do…

RT's Vision - One day all terminally ill children and their families will have access to a Rainbow Trust Children's Charity Family Support Worker.

Family Support -

At home and in the community

Coping with a sick child while trying to keep life as normal as possible for other children and juggling the demands of everyday life, work and family commitments can be overwhelming. Families often benefit from extra support to help them enjoy time together at home.

Sibling support

Having a sick brother or sister can put a lot of pressure on siblings, as their parents are not always able to be there for them in the same way as they used to. Brothers and sisters often find that different people are picking them up from school and giving them their meals or that they have to stay with friends and relatives.

In hospital

Spending long periods in hospital, either waiting for out-patient appointments or as an in-patient can be very stressful for parents and boring for both the sick child and their brothers and sisters. Trying to keep life at home as normal as possible can be difficult for parents, adding pressure to any family. Rainbow Trust offers help and support to try to reduce some of these pressures.

Bereavement support

At Rainbow Trust the support we offer to families is not time limited and does not end with the death of their child. We know that families may need support for many months or years following the death of their child.

Many thanks,

Chris
