Story
The Special Olympics World Summer Games 2023, taking place in Berlin, will see thousands of Athletes compete in 26 summer sports. It will bring together people from across the world to celebrate and promote recognition and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities About Berlin 2023 - 7,000 Athletes; 190 Delegations; 20,000 Volunteers; 9 Days full of sports and emotions
With your support, we can help ensure that a selected team of Special Olympics GB athletes attend the World Games. For many this will be the pinnacle of their sporting careers and a life-changing opportunity that will offer people with intellectual disabilities the chance to showcase their sporting abilities at an international level. The funds raised will help to enable over 100 athletes and over 40 coaches and volunteers, like myself and Paul Singleton, to attend the event, contributing towards our travel, kit and training requirements in the lead up.
Paul Singleton is a key member of the inspirational coaching team at Grantham Tennis Club and Gym / Home (lta.org.uk) which won LTA Club of the Year 2022. GTC provides coaching and social and competitive playing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. It is more than just a tennis club in terms of its ethos and outlook (please check it out).
Paul is more than a tennis coach. He is a mentor to me and an inspirational teacher, coach and role model to the many players he helps both on and off the tennis court. He tirelessly leads group and individual sessions for players of all ages and abilities. He is the perfect choice for Special Olympics GB Tennis Head Coach. As his assistant coach, I look forward to supporting Paul in preparing our athletes for the World Games. Together we will all have fun and I cannot wait to witness the inspirational performances of our GB athletes on the international stage.
Thank you for your generosity and support as we head towards the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2023.
