Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
A small elite (ish) group of friends have decided to take part in this years 100 km London to Brighton trek for the British Heart Foundation. We're reliably informed by more experienced trekkers that it's an epic endurance challenge which will definitely test us. It starts at 8am on 27/06/15 and we will hopefully limp across the finish line inside 24 hours. I think we're all really hoping we haven't bitten off more than we can chew, but who knows!!
Many of us have no direct connection to the fantastic BHF charity, however we certainly know of people who have in some way been affected by related health issues. Coronary Heart Disease was reported last year to be the UK's biggest killer, resulting in 74,000 deaths each year. Or about 200 deaths every day. Much more research clearly needs to be done into prevention and treatment. CHD is however only one aspect covered under the broad umbrella of the BHF. The BHF focuses on education, support groups and funding vital research across a broad range of heart and circulation related conditions.
