Story
This is my story of survival
In October 2005 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, at a
time in my life when everything in my life was going well. A loving husband and family, with and two fantastic children, good job and a wonderful home. Following the discovery of a lump, I went to the hospital alone. My thinking was that the lump I had found was nothing to worry about and everything would be fine. I was then given the terrible news that I had Breast Cancer. This was a devastating blow to me and my family. However, by the Grace of God I went through major surgery, Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy and countless visits to the
hospital.
It was during this time that I joined and became involved with Breast Friends Solihull who have been wonderfully supportive to my family
and I. Equally supportive to many women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. The support group is run by volunteers. We meet once a month at the West Midlands Bridge Club, Solihull to assist local women.
Breast Friends Solihull is a charity run by a volunteer who
themselves has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. The charity provides practical & financial support in a variety of ways to fellow sufferers. Wigs, bra fitting service, domestic help with cleaning & gardening, organic vegetables, loan of comfortable recliner chairs and a hardship fund for families in need financial and psychological support.
Breast Friends has also purchased equipment for Heartlands,
Solihull & Spire Parkway hospitals and continue to support ladies through their cancer journey. Recently, the Breast Cancer Haven and Chemotherapy chairs for Solihull hospital.
I am now 15 YEARS clear. Hence, doing this challenge. I will
be shaving my head in order to raise valuable funds so that Breast Friends can continue their fantastic support local ladies in similar situations.
Without your support we cannot provide these vital services. The NHS cannot provide the services we do. We meet once a month at the West
Midlands Bridge Club and enjoy informative talks by Healthcare professionals and many social outings & meetings that are not only fun but gives us a chance to get to know each other and form real friendships.
PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY AND HELP US TO HELP OTHERS THROUGH THEIR CANCER JOURNEY.
