Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year my resolution was to take part in something new every week including some events to raise money for charity. So as part of this I am taking part in a number of events totalling nearly 150 miles of “competitive” running, swimming and cycling - the Sheffield Half Marathon, the Great North Swim, the London Triathlon, and finally a week later the LondonRide100. The exact dates of each event are below:
Sheffield Half Marathon (13.3 miles in probably the hilliest city in the country) - 12th May 2013
Great North Swim (1 mile swim in freezing waters of lake Windermere) - 15th June 2013
London Olympic Distance Triathlon (1.5km swim in the scummy Thames waters of the Royal Victoria Dock, 40km bike, and 10km run) - 27th July 2013
London Ride 100 (100 mile cycle along the Olympic road race route) - 4th August 2013
The charity I am supporting is Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research who are dedicated to improving the lives of patients with all types of blood cancers and whose life-saving research is focused on finding causes, improving diagnosis and treatments, and running ground breaking clinical trials for all blood cancer patients.
Having never done any event like any of these before and considering the furthest I’ve ever run is around 4 miles and the furthest I’ve cycled is around 40 miles (both of which killed me) this is going to be a real challenge, especially bearing in mind the 2 biggest events are within a week of each other!
Also those that sponsor me early may get spared from me sending horrific images of myself in lycra or speedos.
All excellent reasons you should donate! So please dig deep and donate now.
