Our Dad bravely fought cancer for 11 years, but it took him peacefully in his sleep on Sunday 7th of June this year.
As we are still under Covid-19 restrictions, there are restrictions on how his funeral can run, restricting the number of people who can attend in person, how many flowers can be sent to the crematorium, and so on.
Both our parents loved dogs; they were part of the family before either my brother or I was born, and beagles have been the breed of choice for the last 20 years of their lives together. Our fourth beagle, now living with Richard, is Paddy ... a sweet beagle mix who was rescued from an abusive home and rehomed with us through Beagle Welfare. Paddy brought much joy to Dad, exploring new forests and paths,
accompanying him on adventures while caravanning, or simply staring out of the bay window at home, barking at any cat that had the audacity to cross the garden.
We've been asked many times if people can send flowers to the funeral, and it breaks our hearts to say no. So, we've decided to try to fund raise for Beagle Welfare, the beagle rescue charity, so that more dogs can have the opportunity to brighten someone's life, like Paddy did for Dad.
