Story
Ok, so I have just had an idea, I entered the 10k to achieve a personal goal (a time under 40 minutes) which was going to be hard work but achievable with a little training and practice. I have never ran the 10k and again was looking forward to competing in it. I did think about raising money for a charity close to my heart like a lot of people but was actually put off due to the begging/harrassing people and the embarrassment if I don't end up raising much.
Now, fast forward a few weeks and I've now thought to myself, anything is better than nothing. Why should I not make the effort to possibly help raise funds which could end up saving one persons life. Or go towards the advancement in technology/understanding which could help people in the future. Then I thought something else. Instead of running the 10k, why not run it in bare feet. (This is the thought I feel I may regret). Now it's going be difficult, I'm pretty sure of that, but it isn't as difficult then having to spend weeks/months/years undergoing chemotherapy or accepting that your life with your family & friends has just got dramatically shorter. Most of us, if not all have been affected by cancer at some point whether it be a relative or a family friend and the sad thing is that will continue until a break through is made. £50 pays for an extra hour of research that could help save someones life. If we can raise that then i know we have helped somewhere along the line, so all I ask is for you to give just £1. That pound will go a long way to helping eradicate this horrible disease and securing a brighter future for our loved ones.
