Story
As many of you will know, my daughter Mirren has been pretty poorly for the last 5 years or so with constant hospital admissions and not much of a childhood because of it. Mirren was nominated by her consultant at the Great North Children's Hospital to be part of Dreamflight 2014, where 198 seriously ill and disabled children from all over the UK are given the holiday of a lifetime in Florida, visiting all the theme parks, swimming with Dolphins, and countless other experiences that money can't buy. The kids go by themselves with an army of helpers who pay their own way to help out, including Doctors, nurses, photographers, drivers, and helpers. The kids go free.
It's no coincidence that since Mirren returned from Dreamflight it is the longest time she's been out of hospital in the last 5 years and the friends she has made and the positive impact on her has been amazing. It costs £3,500 to send a child, and I would like to raise this amount so another child can have this life changing experience next year.
As such, I'm properly pushing the boat out and now with the help of my friend Declan O'Brien plan to cycle over 1100 miles in 11 days by cycling the length on the UK riding between John O Groats and Lands End. We will be joined on some of the journey by friends and work colleagues to help get us out of the wind! As the great company I work for has helped out with some of the costs involved I will be making diversions along the route to visit 25 Original Factory Shops along the way, starting at Wick, 14 miles from JOG, and ending at Helston, 10 miles from Lands End.
Any amount is greatly appreciated and will ease the pain of our aching backsides....!
