We breed and train guide dogs to give blind people freedom and mobility

Story

This year my oldest friend, John, was partnered with his new guide dog Sparky.

Now, being a fan of 80's movies I thought I knew what it took for a Man/Dog partnership to work....I mean come on...I'd seen both K-9 & Turner and Hooch!

However the reality is that when the man is nearly blind and the dog in question is of the 'guide' variety an immense amount of effort goes into preparing both the man and the dog for their futures together.

Luckily help is on hand all thanks to the brilliant work the "Guide Dogs" charity does to help thousands of blind and partially sighted men and women, old and young all over the country helping so many become more mobile and independent.

This is why I'm taking on this (frankly ridiculous) challenge....

In June I'll be walking (and if I'm feeling energetic on the way maybe some occasional jumping) 100 kilometers through Yorkshire...

Now one hundered kilometers is a long way (it's 62.1371 miles....apparently) but I'm excited to be involved as well as so pleased I'm supporting a great cause.

So, if I could ask you to sponsor me. Every single penny helps! So if you'd like to support the great work guide dogs do (as well as helping me feel that a 62 odd mile walk will be worth it because of the money we'll raise) feel free to sponsor me now!

Thanks so much for your support....

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
