Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My grandmother June was taken into hospital and diagnosed with septic shock on April 14th. After a few weeks of receiving palliative care, she very sadly passed away on May 14th. As a family, we visited her in hospital as often as we could, but distance made this difficult and time was very precious.
I would love to raise money for the Anne Robson Trust in June's memory. I only heard about this charity the week before we lost nan. They work with hospitals by providing 'butterfly volunteers' who sit with dying patients when loved ones can't always be there. They offer companionship and reassurance to patients and their families during the most difficult days of their lives.
Unfortunately, the hospital in which my nan was staying wasn't in partnership with The Anne Robson Trust at the time of her illness. However, they were incredibly supportive and made every effort to contact the appropriate teams at the hospital to alert them to my nan's situation and our concerns as a family. As a result of their timely help, The Anne Robson Trust made sure that my nan had regular hospital sitters in her last few days and that is of great comfort. The hospital has since contacted me to assure me that they will find a way to work with The Anne Robson Trust in the future so that more patients like my nan, and more families like us, can benefit from their caring and vital service.
We continue to miss my nan dearly, and will always remember what a beautiful person she was. Please help to support this Trust by donating what you can in her memory.
Thank you very much xxx
