Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page. Our fundraising began on another site, which is sadly closing. The £3008.35 raised so far on that site is already working hard for patients throughout Cornwall that are using the Cornwall Hospice Service.
The passing of Anne-Marie brought us together to raise money for Cornwall Hospice Care.
Anne-Marie was fortunate to spend her last days in the care of the wonderful staff at Mount Edgcumbe Hospice. From the moment she arrived the staff took charge of everything. Meaning, that we could spend precious hours with Anne-Marie without the worry of her medical and personal care. More importantly, Anne-Marie was treated like royalty!
It costs £5 million a year to run the Hospice and only £1 million of this comes from the NHS. This means that every year the Hospice relies on donations to the tune of a whopping £4 million.
It was touch and go as to whether there would be a bed for Anne-Marie. The alternative was to remain in the cold, bleak hospital room where it was impossible to see out of the high window and she had to endure pain and undignified intimate care being given by us because the nurses were just too busy. We can never repay the Hospice but we can help them to continue their service and help others.
So, over the next year we will be undertaking many challenges, in preparation for the biggest one of our live’s climbing Ben Nevis in May 2022. This is going to be Challenge 12. There will be a year of challenges leading us to the Big Challenge.
