Fundraising for Willen Hospice
Thank you for taking the time to have a look at our crazy challenge and reading about why we are doing it!
May is a time when our family celebrate many birthdays, but we also remember those who are no longer with us to celebrate their birthdays. One of those birthdays is for our Mum. In 2007, she sadly died from skin cancer aged 55. Mum was an amazing lady who was full of life and energy. She was the centre of all our celebrations and of our family. Mum always enjoyed going outside and right up until the few last weeks, despite all difficulties, would continue to do a daily walk around the garden.
In memory of Mum, we want to raise money for Willen Hospice by doing a 24 hour relay starting on the 23rd May and finishing on the 24th. Each "leg" will be completed by one of our family by walking, running or cycling before "virtually" handing over the baton to the next person. Each person in our family is doing a leg (and some are doing two!) with the aim of continuously going for 24 hours and covering at least 100 miles! This will see us cover 3 continents, 5 times zones and the "baton" be passed around the world!
Willen Hospice was an incredible support to Mum and to our family during this time. They allowed us to stay with Mum night and day, and even let us all camp out in one of their relatives' rooms. They realised that for Mum the most important thing was to have her family by her side. We will always be grateful to them for making that happen.
We want to ensure that Willen Hospice continues to provide this amazing care and support for families. However, recent times have made the challenge of finding enough money to support this work even harder. Therefore, we would be so grateful if you could donate and help this great cause. Thank you!
