We have wanted to find a way to raise money for the Harrow MS centre for a while. Cat's grandma suffers from MS and relies on this centre along with many others for vital social and physical support. This has been especially vital with the pandemic making social interaction difficult and the support networks for everyone suffering.
MS or Multiple sclerosis, is a lifelong neurological disease that affects over 100,000 people in the UK, and over 2 million globally. It can appear randomly (though those with relatives with MS are more likely to develop it) and symptoms usually develop between 20 and 40, including fatigue, impaired vision, poor bladder control and problems with thinking, learning and planning.
With this in mind, we also considered how many other places of learning are closed from zoos to galleries to museums. This then inspired us to take on a challenge: make a zoo people could explore, while also making this virtual zoo accessible for people with MS, raising awareness of the extra considerations one would have to have if they were to suffer from this illness. So we will spend 24 hours straight using Planet Zoo to build a zoo to be as educational and accessible as possible. I should say that neither of us are veteran builders or youtubers so the results may be questionable :p Nonetheless we hope that by doing this we can raise awareness of the struggles of people with MS, and raise some much needed funding to help those with it. More details to follow.
This will be a difficult but worthwhile endeavour with every penny going to help vulnerable people in these difficult times.
