Story
It's been way too long since we lost Ester. The Separated Child Foundation is a charity that was set up to continue Ester's legacy. It provides emotional, social, financial and physical support to children who have had to flee their homeland, leaving behind family because they were killed before they left or were unable to leave, who arrive in the UK with absolutely nothing.
The Ester Awards recognise extraordinary achievements of a separated young person who has created positive change in society. The awards will consist of a voucher, educational material, experience or training which will support the development of their project.
So what can I do? Well I love swimming and remember doing a Swimathon with Esti when we were younger. She would have been 41 this April so I figured I could do something 41-able. I usually swim 20 laps of a 50m pool so 41 is a bit of a challenge. I don't have the fitness for more than that at the moment so figured I could make it harder for myself by having 41 days of abstinence on top.
I'm already off the booze at the mo so will commit to 41 days without my other vice: caffeinated coffee. I work very near to some amazing coffee shops in Sydney so avoiding temptation is going to be hard, I'm totally addicted. I'll also put my coffee fund into sponsorship :)
What can you do?
I know times are tough and money is tight at the moment. If you are able to spare a coffee or two and donate a few pounds / dollars for this cause, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks so much for your support.
41 laps (2050ms): 29th April
41 days of no caffeinated coffee: starts Monday 20/03 with no coffee until 30th April (...eeek).
