Story
The passing of our colleague and friend Audrey McClymont came with great sadness and shock.
Audrey worked as an Associate Specialist within The Department of Paediatric Dentistry at both the Royal Hospital for Children and at Glasgow Dental Hospital and School until her retiral. For many years previous to this she worked within the Public Dental Service and at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children. Audrey was a valued and skilled paediatric dentist with a passion for treating children with additional needs. Her patient centred treatment approach and a wonderful teaching style led to her being respected and loved by her patients and parents, the entire dental team including undergraduate dental students and all the many other medical staff she worked with at the Royal Hospital for Children.
Audrey always had a keen interest in the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry (BSPD) and was President of the West of Scotland branch amongst her many other roles. She was integral to the running of a number of national and international conferences over the years, including the 1997 Glasgow BSPD Conference and the Biannual Congress of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry (IAPD) held in Glasgow in 2015. Audrey was made a life member of the BSPD in 2017 in recognition for all her hard work for the society.
Audrey as all her colleagues and friends know was someone who had a fabulous sense of humour and always saw the fun side of any event. In her retirement she kept in touch and met up regularly with her many dental friends. She was an active member of a dental walking group, organising day trips and weekends away. She loved to travel and we loved hearing her stories which will be missed along with her wonderful laugh.
Due to Coronavirus restrictions, we will be unable to pay our full respects to Audrey in the way we would like to. Please consider giving a donation to the charity which she worked with closely during her career.
Rest in peace Audrey, from all your many friends and colleagues.
