Story
My name is Caroline Rodgers. At 8.27 pm on the 3rd July 2020, our beautiful daughter, Siún, arrived into the world. A few minutes after she was born, our doctor gently told us that Siún had some special features - and that was when we found out our little girl has Down Syndrome. At this most precious time, we were faced with a whirlwind of emotions, fears and immediate worries about Siún's health. However, the doctors, midwives, nurses and all the staff of the NMH that we encountered provided wonderful support and guidance to us as we navigated our way through those initial few hours and days. We were very lucky that I was able to bring Síun with me when I left the delivery ward and spend those first few days just the two of us .We wanted to set up this fundraiser to acknowledge the great work that the NMH Foundation do to support mothers and babies both during their time in Holles Street and in the months following when still under their care.
Having a baby is one of the most important events in life and providing high quality neonatal and maternal care is at the heart of the National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street. The NMH Foundation raises vital funds for the National Maternity Hospital, with a focus on advancing maternal and neonatal health, through funding research, innovation and excellence in care. These advances through research and practice will reduce risks for mothers and babies and will save lives.
