Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
To mark my departure from MindforYou I have decided to follow in the the foot steps of my daughter, Emma Allenby and do something to raise funds for MindforYou.
Saying goodbye to my mum when our relationship changed due to her dementia, was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. However, getting to know my mum as a person living with dementia, was fun, rewarding, unpredictable, and most certainly a “new hello”.
I founded MindforYou back in September 2014, to create a different service where the person living with dementia and their unpaid family carer could have quality time together, meet new people, relax and enjoy themselves. I’ve created a holiday experience that changes people’s lives and makes a real difference.
I hope the selection of photos above give you an insight into the difference MindforYou holidays make to families living with dementia. For me these photos speak infinitely more than my words ever can.
For those of you who know me, riding on the worlds fastest zip wire is really not something that I would do willingly. My husband has been trying to get me to do a parachute jump since 1994 and can't believe I have decided to do this.
On the morning of Saturday 26th November I will be experiencing the worlds fastest zip wire with my husband Gary and son Ben alongside me for moral support.
MindforYou has been a huge part of my life since 2014 and I don't know what I am going to do next. But one thing I know from supporting my Mum and Dad through their dementia.
“If you’re brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello.”
Please donate whatever you can to support MindforYou to continue to make a real difference in the lives of families living with dementia.
Wish me luck
