The McAHud Team challenge; my Partner Bren, son Conor his wife Emma, my daughter's partner Dan are doing the Yorkshire 3 peaks w/c 25/04/22 over 12-14 hours.
The team are very happy to support the Serenity Appeal; the heart ache of baby loss is never far away; we all know someone in our lives that experienced this unbearable grief.
This is close to my own heart, as manager of the EPAU unit we care for women, couples & their families at this sad time. The money raised for the Serenity Appeal will enable us to provide in-house scanning & refurbish the counselling rooms at Doncaster & Bassetlaw sites; this will have a very positive impact on the quality of the service we provide & create a private, quiet & comfortable room for families to grieve within the hospital.
We will be camping for the week in Austwick, near Settle, myself, my daughter Alicia, granddaughter Arella & other family members Rob & Karen will be setting up base camp providing refreshments, a celebratory drink & we will tend to the blisters . . . I think we will manage we have 2 nurses, a trainee nurse, a trainee paramedic, a firefighter & a chef in the ranks 🙂
With much sadness, every year many families suffer the pain and trauma of losing a little one. Although we cannot change what has happened, we can make this experience that little bit easier for our families. As such, we need your help to make significant improvements to our maternity bereavement services so we can provide the gold standard of care that local people deserve. To make these improvements possible, Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Charity need to raise £150,000 which will enable us to fund various improvements to our maternity bereavement services across Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospital.
