Story
Coming from an individual that has been affected by cancer firsthand my passion is to offer support to others with cancer and to celebrate those that have conquered this terrible illness.
Whether being a cancer survivor or have cared for someone with cancer, we all have valuable experiences that can lift others.
I lost my father to cancer. He was my best friend, mentor and role model. Whenever I come to a cross in the road, I ask myself what would he do in my shoes? I always receive direction. I'm always reminded he is around me by several signs. Helping these children is a perfect example of how we can honor our loved ones that deserve to be honored.
In previous campaigns we've had the privilege to work with Barbara's Friends and made many friends and developed relationships with special people. One of them being Annabelle Phillips. A very special person and inspiration to us all and proof of what Barbara's Friends is capable of.
Annabelle is a cancer survivor and my friend. She is my "clipper" for this event and I am so proud to call her my friend and catalyst for beating cancer.
We are humbled to be a part of this.
For the past 25 years, Barbara's Friends has helped over 8,000 local SWFL kids with cancer and blood disorders from infancy to age 30. Since March 1, when COVID-19 began, more than 25 local children have been told they have cancer. Last year 49 children were diagnosed. The numbers are up. More families need your help. Please support our Shavees' by making a donation and share with your friends and family to make a difference in our community. Cancer doesn't care who, when or where. WE DO!
