Story

Michael O'Keeffe:

At 9am on August 12th 2015 I left Lincoln Cathedral for Paris, to ride the 18th Paris-Brest-Paris long distance cycle audax. The PBP, as it is known, started on 15th August 2015 and covered 1,220km with a time limit of 90 hours; it is the largest sporting event of its type in the world, with almost 6,000 riders from sixty countries taking part. It . I then rode back to Lincolnshire again, covering a total of 2,800km. I arrived back on 25th August, in time for my daughter's birthday.

Now that I am back, please help me to raise donations towards my target of helping three African Villages with water projects.  Donate what you can to CAFOD-JustOneWorld and together we will help to reduce water poverty in Africa!

To make sure that the maximum money goes to charity, I slept on the side of the road for all but two of the thirteen nights that I was away!

A glass of water and having a shower are things we take for granted. £33 could provide families around the world with something that’s essential to life – drinking water that won’t kill them. Not only that, but we can provide clean water to wash in, keeping everyone safe from infection.

With inadequate sanitation, deadly diseases like cholera and typhoid can spread all too quickly. £85 gives a latrine to a remote rural village, helping to keep families and communities safe and well.

£750 could help provide the materials and know-how to build wells, water tanks and reservoirs, and to install and lay pumps, water pipes and taps to provide clean, safe water to entire communities.

“Thanks to the support of our brothers and sisters in England and Wales we now have access to clean water”. Josefa Quino Salvador, Guatemala
