On the 20th May 2018 we will be running the Hackney Half Marathon to raise money for Barts Charity.
Barts charity support the work of staff and researchers at the Barts Health group of hospitals and Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, funding ground-breaking research, state-of-the-art equipment and innovative healthcare projects. (See http://www.bartscharity.org.uk/what-we-do/)
The Barts NHS Trust is the largest in the UK serving 2.5 million people in the City of London and the East End. You may not live or work in this area, but the the research the Barts Charity fund positively impacts patients’ lives – not just in the hospitals they support, but around the world! For instance, they have funded the next generation of Cancer researchers; created a research centre dedicated to the prevention of Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and dementia; and, provided funding to the Barts Heart Centre to help combine research and clinical care which aims to significantly improve heart health for patients in the local community and beyond.
