Story
10th of July is going to be such a special day for me and Tom. We cannot wait to share our wedding day with all our amazing friends and family but we are going to miss a very special person who made such a positive impact on our lives.
Steve Burke sadly left us in December 2018 but such was his fortitude and attitude to life he remains very much in our lives today. Now for those of you not aware of Steve, many years ago he was beaten up left for dead by a gang of thugs whilst he was on holiday with his friends. His brain injuries were horrific but somehow, after months and years of treatment, he survived and later went on to survive bouts of sepsis and cancer. But was he ever down or bitter – not a bit of it.
He was such a bright light in a room, and such a kind beautiful Soul. His Jokes never changed but that’s why we loved him. I could sit next to him for hours listening to his stories, except when he used to talk to me about Chelsea Football club but the conversation quickly got changed. One year it was incredibly hot almost every day we sat down to have an ice cream ,usually a massive banana split or a small sorbet. Once He managed to eat two massive banana splits in one sitting, Steve was so proud of himself he kept on laughing so hard he got brain freeze.
Steve Burke , the legend, who I will always will be thankful for meeting. We met on a Pilgrimage to Lourdes . Steve was always one of those people that you would be immediately drawn to, his beaming smile and wonderful funny sense of humour. Knowing him for 11 years I got to see how much of a amazingly strong man he was. For living through such a terrible event in his life and battling cancer. Looking after Steve in Lourdes every year , I could never be apart from him. He had the knack to be able to make me laugh whenever I was upset or sad.
Now despite the spotlight being on me and Tom in July we would like to make a dedication to Steve and the wonderful charity, White Lodge who made much a positive impact on his life.
Please donate in memory of my best friend. Your support of this great cause will be the greatest gift to us and will help keep Steve in our thoughts on our exciting day.
