Story
District Bahawalpur is located in the Punjab province of Pakistan. The district is a painful tale of missed opportunities and is characterised by high poverty levels. The urban areas are ranked as 25th and rural areas 31st most deprived district out of Punjab's 34 districts. This project aims to bring hope and joy to the lives of vulnerable families living in extreme poverty within the district. It will enable them to live healthy and prosperous life with all basic facilities.
The selected families are a living in miserable conditions due to extreme poverty and poorly constructed mud houses with a very limited capacity. Not a single house has a proper toilet facility which increases exposure to risk specifically for the women and children’s. Open defecation is being practiced in the village which is cause of many diseases and un-hygiene conditions.
In the first phase of this project, Action For Humanity will build twenty one-bedroom homes with kitchen, toilet and open space for families who have dreamed for a cemented house and clean water to drink. A place where they can practice personal and local hygiene, where they have protected environment and where their families and kids are safe from harsh weather.
AFH will also build a mosque in this community where people can offer prayers in a clean place. The mosque will have proper and hygienic ablution and toilet facility with fresh water.
A clean solar drinking water supply will be installed in the village which will supply fresh water to the homes and the mosque. This supply will provide the community with plenty of water for domestic use and to keep household environment hygienic and clean.
