We save food destined for landfill to turn it into meals for vulnerable people

Story

Normally at this time of year we would be holding a Christmas drink soiree to get the festive season underway. It will be no surprise to say that this year the pandemic has put a stop to those plans.

So this year we would like to do something different. We
would like to throw all of our efforts into raising vital money for FareShare South West’s FoodStock Appeal.
They
are targeting £250,000 in order to provide over 1 million meals

over the winter period and at the moment have currently raised just under £100,000.

In Bristol, 69,500 people suffer from income deprivation, with 26% of children in Bristol living in households where there isn’t enough money to receive a nutritionally balanced diet. An additional 670,000 people across the UK will be destitute by the end of the 2020,
meaning they cannot afford essentials like housing, energy, and
food

We would like the Bristol construction industry to come together to support this great cause by pledging our support and more importantly our money. FareShare will be providing food to help bridge the food gap caused by the Corona pandemic, acting as the emergency, low-cost food supplier to hundreds of frontline organisations - from food banks to schools to homeless charities. They will be providing key pop-up food parcel operations as well as plugging food gaps in existing charitable operations.

That £50 you’d normally spend at the pub on a round of drinks
could provide 200 meals for people in need this winter!

Please show your support by joining the Bristol Construction
Collective and making a pledge to this worthwhile cause.

We wish you all a happy and safe Christmas and look forward to seeing you in 2021.
