Story
We successfully completed our Mount Snowdon hike on Friday! The climb took 5 hours in total, 3 hours up PYG track and 2 hours down Miners' track. This worked out to be 21,887 steps and we climbed the equivalent of 209 floors!
While the weather wasn't on our side, with mist, showers and drizzle all day, the whole team powered through and we've raised a lot of money for a good cause.
Thank you for all the support and donations!
Here's some of the reasons why supporting this cause is so important to us:
"When my Mum told me she had cancer 12 years ago I thought she was going to die. She wasn't diagnosed till quite late which meant she needed to have a mastectomy and undergo chemotherapy. Despite feeling sick every day and losing her hair, she fought like a lioness and now so many years later she is clear. Thanks to Cancer Research many people survive this horrible disease every day and we want to help them beat cancer sooner." Agnes
"A family friend has recently suffered from cancer and I know that the support and advice that Cancer Research offers is fantastic, through their forums and the ability to speak to nurses. I think sometimes all people need is someone they can talk to and someone that will listen." Danielle
"My Grandad had cancer and luckily survived it but I remember how ill he was when he went through the treatment. I also take part in the Race For Life run every year where people who have survived cancer share their stories. It is just scary how it can affect their families/ lives." Jade
"A close friend's partner is currently going through chemotherapy treatment, he's only in his 20s too. Cancer is a horrible disease, hopefully we can raise lots of money for this amazing charity who do such great work." James
"I lost my Grandad to a brain tumour and my Auntie also had to face cancer in her 30s. There's always an underlying fear that cancer will impact somebody else close to you, so the more we can do to help fight it the better." Jenny
With 3,300ft to climb, our team are preparing themselves for a challenge that is expected to take 6 hours or more. We've set ourselves a challenging fundraising target and want to raise as much as we possibly can for Cancer Research UK, so any donations that can help us to reach it will be much appreciated.
