In Memory of Brian Tabner

Brian was taken ill and shortly after being admitted to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary was tested positive for Covid-19. During the fourteen days he was at the hospital and fighting the virus he was looked after by some amazing nursing staff on the Coronary Care and Respiratory Care Wards that went out of their way to show him the very best attention.  Considering the nature of the virus and the risks that they put themselves in they showed amazing strength and were so kind and patient with Viv as she phoned regularly for updates passing this information on to his sons, family and friends. Allowing access by phone for Viv to speak to Dad was an example of the additional steps they were willing to take to  show care not only to him but also the family. 

In his final hours the nursing team allowed Viv access to his bedside, to talk to him and hold his hand as he bravely realized that his time had come, upon arrival she was surprised to see how well he looked, freshly shaven with combed hair and thought that there must be something wrong with his prognosis. Sadly this was not the case but testimony to the nurses that grew to love him as we do during his short stay. 

We would like to say thank you to all the brilliant NHS staff who took care of Brian and others in this difficult time. You are the best.

We ask that you donate whatever amount is possible ( small or large ) to not only act as a memorial to Brian but to also show the nursing team on the RLI Coronary and Respiratory Care Wards that we value them and the way that they cared for our husband, father, friend and colleague.
