AVRIL GRIFFIN nee TATE-30 YRS GONE NEVER 4 GOTTEN
Its just over 30 years since I lost my dear sister Avril to cancer aged 32. Words like devastated do not begin to describe how you feel. The hardest part is seeing your parents come to terms with losing a child. At the time, my Mum threw herself into fundraising and raised almost £10,000 for the Don Valley Body Scanner at the Sheffield Hallamshire Hospital. On Sunday 21st April 2013, I ran my first full marathon in London. It was the toughest thing I have ever done in my life! At 21 miles my body was ready to give in but the crowds were amazing and got me through the last few miles. It is an incredible day and I would recommend it to anybody.
If anyone who knew Avril or who knows me would sponsor me for any of the events that I am entering, especially the London Marathon, it would mean that after 30 yrs , Avril's memory still lives on and we can do our bit to help other families suffering from this terrible disease. Every £1 raised will make a difference. Doing it through Just Giving is a safe and easy way to donate and if you are a tax payer then gift aid can also be added.
For my next challenge I would like to try a 990mile cycle ride from Lands End to John O'Groats!
