Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the weekend of 4/5 August 2012 I will be participating as a SOLO Rider in the Sleepless in the Saddle 24hr Mountain Bike Endurance Event. Although it will be a personal challenge, I would also like to raise the awareness and hopefully some money for the Cardiac Risk in the Young charity.

As a parent I cannot think of anything worse than to loose a child, worse still, to a condition that is so easily and inexpensively detected. Joe Parkinson, a family friend of one of my best mates, sadly on the 1st February Joe passed away after collapsing out on a run, he had an undetected heart defect (Bicuspid Aortic Valve), Joe was just 21.

Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by the sudden cardiac death. We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.
