Hey guys, it is official! My long-awaited trip to Hanna's Orphan Home in Ethiopia will finally be taking place in August 2023! The initially scheduled trip for summer 2020 unfortunately never got the chance to materialise due to the unforeseen events of the pandemic. I would like to give a HUGE thanks to everyone who has supported my fundraising journey since 2020 and contributed to the initially raised amount of £1,524. Unfortunately, the fundraising page used previously is no longer available to view as VirginMoneyGiving has completely shut down. I would very much appreciate if everyone could please give my fundraise one last big push so that we can try match and hopefully beat our previously achieved target!

For those of you who don't yet know what my fundraise is about, please allow me to fill you in:

In the summer 2023, myself with a group of other City, University of London alumni will be flying out to volunteer at Hanna's Orphan Home in Ethiopia. We will be responsible for teaching English and other academic lessons, as well as organising multiple engaging extra-curricular activities for the children who are part of the orphanage. 

Hanna's Orphanage is a charity set up to help vulnerable children in Ethiopia by supporting the maintenance and expansion of Hanna Orphans Home. All the funds raised are used to provide the children with anything they need, ranging from books and toys to clothes and sports equipment; as well as covering the rent and improving living conditions. The two main principles of the charity are: The charity will always tell you what the money is being spent on; and the charity responds to whatever the orphanage needs.

There are more than 200 children who currently receive support from HOH, from preschool to university students. 37 children live across 7 homes, each with an assigned live-in-house Mother. A further 163 children are supported within the local community. So far we've been able to provide basic necessities like food, clothing and educational materials. We have funded the purchase of beds, so that every child has its own at the orphanage. We have also bought a car for the organisation - that way the orphanage can make food purchases in bulk and take the children for regular medical checks without interruption. In August our trip is funded by Bayes Business School so 100% of any donations go directly to Hanna's Orphanage and supporting what they need.
