Story
Hello everyone! Thank you so much for taking the time to click through to our JustGiving page. These are unprecedented times and there are so many charities struggling and so many needing help. I'd like to tell you a little about Bethany and a charity very close to our hearts in the hopes you'll be able to spare a few quid towards their vital work.
Bethany was born with Kabuki Syndrome, a very rare genetic syndrome causing (for Bee) a moderate learning difficulty, developmental delays, moderate hearing loss, speech delay, hypotonia and hypermobility, amongst other things.
We became involved with the Wolves Foundation when Bethany was 5 years old, joining a weekly specialist dance class for disabled children. This became a lifeline for us. A place for her to get vital physio disgusied as fun and spend time with other children and families like us. From there we began accessing more and more through the Foundation's inclusion program, including a weekly art class and school holiday sports camps. More recently Bee has joined the Foundation's incredible Learning Disability Rugby League team, giving her the wonderful opportunity to be a part of a team sport that means so much to our family. She's played in tounaments across the country, even at the RFL's Grand Day Out in Blackpool and on the pitch at Anfield for Magic Weekend! The Foundation have run trips to the zoo and to pantomimes. Bethany has built strong relationships with staff and others who access the program. Without the Foundation, where would she go to spend time and socialise with other children her age?
Yet despite all this, the Foundation do *so much more*. They run a huge inclusive football program and youth club. They take rugby into schools, they run mental health sessions and dance for the over 50's. They organise, catalogue, store and source club heritage. They run the hugely successful Game Changers volunteer program and so much more. They work with people of all ages and backgrounds right across the town of Warrington and they do it all on money they raise from fundraising.
To support this and ensure the Foundation can continue this vital work Bethany is going to be taking on the '2.6 Challenge' on Friday 8th May. We've got 26 activities planned, each of which Bee (and us!) will complete 26 times, in 2.6 hours. They may look simple but Bee's physical disabilities mean this is a huge challenge for her. I hope you'll suppport us by sharing our link on social media and bunging us a few quid if you can. Thank you!
