Hello everybody, here it the livestreaming link: https://youtu.be/Zgyugnm1iFk
Unfortunately, I can't work out how to embed it so you'll need to copy and paste it into the address bar on your browser. If you know me and you struggle (I'm looking at some of my extended family here!) text or phone me and I'll help you out xx
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This Sunday, 3rd May, I will shave my head to raise money for Action for Refugees in Lewisham (AFRIL). My hair is the longest it's EVER been (as a child I had a permanent bob) and, according to the tape measure, it's now an impressive 20 inches from root to end! I've been growing it for about six years (or even longer, maybe?!) and I'm incredibly precious about it (think stupidly overpriced shampoos and serums, a selection of different hairbrushes and a silk hair net at bedtime...)! Before my housemate kindly shaves it off for me this weekend, I'm going to carefully cut it off and prepare it, so I can send it to the Little Princess Trust to use for a wig. They're not currently able to accept donations so I will store it, weirdly, at home until they can.
I'm hoping to live stream the big event via Twitch or YouTube (if my data will allow for it) so, if you choose to, you can watch the chaos ensue. Oh also, my housemate has only agreed to help me if he is allowed to first shave the top of my head, like a monk, and leave the sides long for a few minutes.
There has already been a lot of news about how much charities will suffer as a result of the current Covid-19 crisis and the inevitable recession that will follow. This is particularly worrying for small, local organisations which are often crucial in helping the most vulnerable people in our society (many of whom will be disproportionately affected by the current pandemic and be in even greater need of support) but don't benefit from the same visibility that most larger organisations do. With this in mind, I'd like to try to raise some money for Action for Refugees in Lewisham (AFRIL) who help asylum seekers and refugees in my local community by providing advice and advocacy, education support and food banks. You can find out more about AFRIL here:
https://www.afril.org.uk/
I'd be super grateful if you could donate some pounds, no matter how few, to help AFRIL continue to do the amazing work they do in the Lewisham Borough.
Thanks! x
