Story
When thinking about charities to run for this year I
couldn't think of one more fitting and close to my family's heart than The Ambitious
About Autism.
When Harrison was just 2 years old,
we received a probable diagnose of autism. It
came with very mixed emotions as in all honesty we had no clue what this
meant for him or us as a family and we struggled to see past all the things he
couldn't do and get upset by the milestones he wasn't reaching compared to his
peers. However, after lots and lots of research and seeing that Autism is
NOT a disability, its merely a different ability we were able to forget about
what he couldn't do and make sure we celebrated all that he could. Harrison's
super talent is Numbers and the alphabet. I mean tell me another 4-year-old
that can do the alphabet backwards without even thinking about it. The mind is
a wonderful thing.
In August 2022 we got the diagnosis we were waiting for which
means Harrison will have everything in place for him ready for starting school
in September. It’s hard letting go of your child and watching them become
more independent however it’s even harder when there's an extra need. But
at the same time when we surpass a struggle, the amount of pride and joy is
huge.
As much as we spend our days teaching him, he will
never realise that he teaches us so much more on a daily basis. If
you don't know get to know because so many children and adults are
living with autism, which isn't a problem, but ignorance is!
The charity helps campaign and create change for those
affected and their families. They offer support and guidance and help to create
a society that works for autistic people. Their vision is a future where
every autistic child and young person can be themselves and realise their
ambitions.
Running the London Marathon is an absolute privilege which I
have done 4 times before in 2017, 2021, 2022 & 2023. In 2022 I challenged
myself to complete the 4x4x48 (4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours)
which I completed in February 2022, Last year I upped the game by Running
31 Half Marathons which was one every day throughout January, So this year
I am running a Marathon a day for 8 days, starting on 31st December
to the 7th January (I may prolong it depending how the legs feel and
how the fundraising goes) Any donations would be greatly appreciated and you
