Story
Everyone has seen the damage that recent floods has done to many homes, businesses and sporting facilities. A large proportion of people were affected including ourselves. The water has now subsided so we have been able to reflect on the devastation caused to our facility. Our playing and training surfaces sit on floodplains so we are not adverse to the fact that this may happen from time to time but it never gets any easier seeing damage caused. It took us 10 years to save up the money needed for our new training area and within 1 year of it being laid, the floods occurred again putting all of our hard earnt effort at risk. Apart from the training area, our perimeter fence has been damaged and needs replacing, the flooring of the new electronic scoreboard where the scorers sit and volunteer their days in the summer needs replacing, our sheets on the sight screens which are essential on our senior and junior match days are beyond repair. And just when we think all of the devastation is over, we come to find the beating heart of the club, our 1950s tractor, which helps the groundman perform many jobs around the site has broken and is in for extensive repair. We are currently in our off season and struggle to make any sort of income during these months, any donations that you can make will go on to benefit of all of the members of this club from the juniors aspiring to be professional cricketeers through to the social members who come down to support their local club. Belper Meadows CC isn't just a cricket club, we welcome all playing newcomers and we welcome the general public, we are here to serve a purpose within the community whether that's for the use of our clubhouse building which is now used for numerous purposes or for spectating entertainment in the summer.
