Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you know my Parents house has become a little bit famous for it's Christmas lights. I normally start this page off with, it's that time of year again where my parents go all out! Unfortunately that isn't the case this year, as we sadly lost my wonderful Dad very suddenly, and very unexpectedly in October. We are all heartbroken, but my Mum has continued with her baby (the lights), with the help of my brother, his wife, their girls and the occasional help from a couple of family friends.
My Mum has done this for the last 25yrs, started out relatively small (although bigger than anyone else at the time) and grew bigger and bigger each year, until it was on par with the film national lampoons christmas vacation, with her making sure to add a few new ones every year. Everyone has always thought it was all my Dads hard work and he never corrected anyone on this either.
My Mum takes great satisfaction in seeing the joy her lights bring to people from all over St Albans, and some even further a field. A trip past my parents house has even become a little bit of a family tradition for some.
They started collecting for various local charities in the early years, and then for Marie Curie at Mount Vernon 12yrs ago due to them saving my Dads life. Without them we would not have been blessed with having him these last 14yrs. He was in remission for 12yrs and was given the all clear 2yrs ago. This year the charity will remain the same, this time in memory of my lovely Dad. Please help us make this the best year to date, in memory of him, and in honour of all my Mums hard work and dedication no matter what problems she faces.
We all, especially my Mum hope these wonderful lights bring lots of smiles and joy to you all, and help brighten up the end to what has been an horrendous year! We wish you all a Merry Christmas and hope we all have a better, and Happy New Year!
The lights will be switched on tomorrow 13th December at 4pm.
Please can I ask you to help share this page, and donate whatever you can. I know this is a charity that has touched the lives of not just us, but many of you too.
